– Knowledge saves its possessor from destruction and tribulations.

– On the authority of Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“There was a man among the Children of Israel who had killed ninety-nine people. Then he went out asking if there was any repentance for him. He came to a monk and asked him, ‘Is there any repentance for me?’ The monk said, ‘No,’ so he killed him as well. He continued to ask, and someone told him, ‘Go to such and such a village.’ While on his way, death overtook him, and he collapsed with his chest directed toward the village. The angels of mercy and the angels of punishment disputed over him. Allah revealed to the village he was heading to: ‘Draw closer,’ and to the other village: ‘Move farther away.’ Then Allah said, ‘Measure the distance between them.’ They found that he was closer by a hand span to the village of repentance, so he was forgiven.”
